Brett Waterfield is a seasoned Financial Advisor Recruiter with over 28 years of experience helping advisors navigate their Broker Dealer, RIA, and Custodial options, transition seamlessly to new firms, and achieve their business goals. With a deep understanding of the independent broker-dealer and RIA landscape, Brett has built a reputation for providing strategic guidance tailored to each advisor’s unique practice.
As Senior Vice President – Division Manager (2015-2025) and Vice President – Regional Director (2008-2015) at LPL Financial, Brett led teams focused on recruiting Financial Advisors across the Midwest and Northeast. Brett also worked directly with advisors, helping them transition their businesses and align with platforms that supported their growth. He developed numerous processes to support advisors though every stage of the due diligence process.
Brett’s experience at TD Ameritrade Institutional (2004–2008) as Vice President of Institutional Sales further solidified his expertise in the RIA space. He guided independent advisors in optimizing client experiences, leveraging technology stacks, and structuring business development teams, always with the goal of helping them build more efficient and profitable practices.
In addition to his recruiting expertise, Brett’s background includes five years as a Product Wholesaler with Federated Investors and Talbot Financial Services, two years as a Registered Representative at Raymond James, and five years of service in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist.
Brett holds a Master of Science in Banking and Financial Services from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University. Brett has also earned the CFP designation.
